Can you help? (Shannon especially)

Cats Are Us holds yard sales a few times a year, one of their biggest sources of fundraising, as they are all-volunteer and run on donations only. They always hold them inside somewhere, so in case of rain the sale can still be successful. In the past, they've used unoccupied buildings that were for rent, where the owner let them use the space for free. Some places they've held them charged them rent, which of course, eats in to their profits.

If any of you know of a decent building where they can hold a sale over a weekend (Fri., Sat. and Sun) please let them know. It doesn't have to be huge, but a place where parking is available and preferably not a lot of steps into the front door, as some of the women who help are older and would have a hard time getting items in and out. A FREE place would be ideal, but they will pay a reasonable rent for the space. There has to be SOMEONE out there who would be willing to offer such a place--afterall, it could be a charitable donation write-off for tax purposes.

Shannon, since you're in real estate, maybe you know of a place? Downtown would be ideal, as it would be centrally located, but they've had them before in New Providence as well.

Also, once they find a place, they'll be looking for good donations! A great time to spring clean, get rid of some clutter and help them make money at the same time. I'll let you all know when and where you can drop off items for them.

So put on your thinking caps. I'm sure we can come up with someone who can help! Call Suzanne at the shelter, 503-0053 between 9 and noon Monday through Saturday.

Sandy, I am so glad you put this on here! What a perfect place! You know what a big supporter we are of Cats Are Us! Suzanne and Gerta are two of my best friends and they do so very much and get no monetary help from anyone but donations and they don't get that much. They have soooo many animals all the time! They are always in need of help with volunteers as well as donations. They both work so very hard to help all the cats and even tho it's Cats Are Us, they do have some dogs too. We always give things to them before we even consider the other places like Goodwill etc. In fact we have been looking to see what we can give to thier next sale.

Shannon, I sure hope you can help with finding a place for them to have thier next sale. They sure will appreciate any help they can get and to all of you that donates anything you can they will be so thankful! Please help however you can!!!!!!!!!!!

Location is key. Our local shelter in Pennsylvania uses a large church, so perhaps that's an idea worth pursuing! I wish I lived closer, I could have an entire sale myself just from my Attic!

This is such a great idea. I always see them advertise this sale and have never been able to help. I am going to call Suzanne and get the date and a few more details and see what I can find. Is there a way that as a group we could do something together for this? I think it would be neat for us(that are local and able to)to get together in person. This would be a constructive way to socialize!

Anyone else game?

Hey Shannon, that's a good idea. I was thinking that we all need to meet sometime now that spring is almost here. I had thought we could get together at the Riverwalk with some of our mutts, but we can help with the yardsale, too.

I was going to post a topic about a get together, so maybe once they have a place I'll post about it and we can brainstorm! Keep me posted on the location. I know Suzanne is looking too, but so far hasn't found anything.

Sandy, you know I'm a Cats Are Us supporter so of course I'm in! I've been going through stuff for the next sale. Aso guys you can support them with buying things at the sale as well as donating items. We found some neat little books and some things at the last one. We were able to donate some pretty good things too including a extra TV we didn't need. Give them the best items you can so they can have a grat sale!

I've seen that on TV before and the old cheerleader in me was rather impressed. I love rooting for the under-deer. LOL
