The dog ate my computer....and a turtle

The dog didn't really eat my computer, BUT, last night we had those really bad thunderstorms and The Boss, unlike ME, did not turn off the computer and power strip etc., so it got zapped. The good news is that my computer itself is okay, but the satellite modem is not working, so I can't get on the Internet. Which means, no pictures for a while, as I am posting from work. GRRRRRRRR. You don't realize how much you miss a computer and rely on it until you don't have it. I felt like a junkie without a fix this morning. I will try to check my e-mail from here, but I might not be able to, so if you all have e-mailed me about anything and I don't answer, you know why. You can always e-mail me here at work.

On top of that, Scooter was bad this morning. I noticed him lying in the grass munching on something. I went down, and here he had a turtle! I thought the turtle was safe in his shell, but then I couldn't see a head tucked in and noticed some blood, so I think Scooter ate his head off! That upset me so much, especially since we talked so much about another turtle! Of course, he also had to dig in the yard at the lizard wood pile, and the ground is nice and wet and muddy, so he had to have a major foot bath.

I sure hope the morning's problems aren't a harbinger of things to come today! Hope you all are having a better day than I am so far!

So, while I can post a topic from work, I probably won't be able to come back to add to the conversation, so carry on for me pet people!

Sandy, you poor girl you and that poor little turtle! How awful! But as we know sometimes things just happen that are out of our control and this was one of those times. Don't beat yourself up over the turtle, you would have stopped it if you could have seen it happening. I didn't know dogs would eat another animal like that but then I guess if they cat turds they'll eat about anything right? Maybe Scooter has a little goat in him,ha.
So sorry about your computer crap too. I agree on how we sure do depend on these things. I feel like I'm on a deserted island when ours or the service is down. I wondered why everything I was sending you ws coming back or I was getting that message about it not being delivered then Stacey sent the e-mail saying what was going on. You hang in there girl, things will get better.
Hey I'm in if you all decide to go to the resturant and Roxy on June 2. It sure would be a blast for a "Dragon and his wenches" night or rather afternoon and night out.We just have to make sure we behave at the Roxy and don't ge thrown out,ha.

The storms you all hd last night are here today and all the problems with Sandy's computer reminded me that we never turn off The Foremans computer. I hope it's ok when I get home. Since I have a wireless laptop, he can't turn off his computer if I need to print. I'm sure there's a better and easier way to connect it all, but I haven't figured it out yet. Hey Skeeter, your hubby is good with computers , maybe you could ask him for suggestions.

Sandy, Just think that tomorrow is a new day and it can only get better!

Adrienne,
The Saint says he suspects you have a wireless computer "set up" at the house... If so unless you have a Network attached printer, you will have to keep the other computer and printer turned on to make it work through your laptop.... Don’t ask me what I just said, just dictating what the Saint said...

Sorry about your troubles this morning Sandy. I sometimes wish my computer would die so I could get more done around here! I am hooked on it and neglect other stuff at times due to my addiction… Bad, bad Scooter boy! Poor turtle never saw it coming… I guess the poor frog never saw my lawn mower coming today either! Arggg, that’s right, I killed a frog while mowing the grass! I never saw him until I came back around with the weed whacker and there he was, all spread out and bloody dead as could be. I felt so bad but I did not cry like one other time that this happened. That time I had been seeing and talking to a frog in the same spot for several days. Then I was weed eating and he had moved to another spot nearby and I got him. I was so upset because I felt it was my friend that I had been talking to for a few days and that he did not fear me coming near him. But in time I learned that frogs do not move as part of their defense. They are now keeping Skeeter entertained over the rainbow bridge….

Speaking of the Rainbow Bridge, has anyone been to see the Wall at Precious Friends? I sent them a check for a brick to be named for Skeeter and our family pet Molly. Just wondering if their names are on the wall yet….?...

Oh gee, I wonder if I can get the Saint to bring me up for the Full Monty night out? Sounds like fun and I will see what I can do about it as time gets closer…

My cat tried to eat a turtle my brother brought into the house once and kept in the bathroom. However, it was a baby snapping turtle, so all the cat got out of it was a yelp! When I ran in to see what happened after I heard the yelp, the turtle and his plastic (temporary) home were strewn about the kitchen.

The cats were also bad about biting the tails off of our fish, so we had to stop getting fish for our fish bowl...

I had fish once... One of my cats rubbed up against the heater and turned it up to high. I came home and there were wisps of steam rising from the aquarium... it was horrible. I think the cat tried to squeeze between the tak and the wall and in squeezing by managed to rotate the heater knob.

I don't have the heart to try again...

Well, Skeeter, if the Saint brings you up for Full Monty, that means he and Fly Boy and the Boss and which other males are here (not sure if You Should will be here since Shannon said he's gone again) can have a boy's night out. Gee, I guess Dragon would have to decide who he would rather be with---the boys or his wenches. Decisions, decisions...

Sandy, don't be too hard on Scooter. He's a dog, doing what dogs do. They are meat eaters after all, just like cats. We may not like it when a cat gets a bird, or Scooter gets a turtle, but it is part of nature. Don't be angry with him for it.

Now, if he starts boiling water and taking it out back for turtle soup, then you might need to worry.

I killed my daughter's parakeet one Christmas long ago, I hung a tiny little christmas stocking on his cage, and the poor bugger ate the fuzz from it and was belly-up the next morning. Hard to explain that to a 5 year old. She's 18 now and still hasn't forgiven me. Of course not long after that my darling sister sent her (via a friend in Pennsylvania) 2 lizards and nearly caused a divorce in my household. My husband and I don't argue about the typical kids/sex/money, we only argue about my choice of pets....lets see, so far he has survived the dogs, cats, hamsters, lizards, a snake, a bird, a turtle, not to mention the praying mantis pod I bought that produced hundreds of mantis nymphs or the bag of 3,000 lady bugs......isn't it normal to buy those things for ones daughter???

When I was about 9 or 10 my mom bought me 2 fancy gold fish, Pizza and Cheese, if I remember correctly. My Aunt thought she would be nice and clean their tank for me. She also thought they would enjoy a warm tank and she put warm water in their bowl. Needless to say they died and she felt so guilty that even today if I mention it she still apologizes. Don't you parents know what kind of mental trauma you cause us poor innocent children when you kill our precious pets? LOL

Daisy, There is nothing normal about giving a girl pets that slither, eat other pets, or are just purely strange. I would have serious issues if some of those things had been brought into my house too. Your poor Husband! And Lady bugs are only good for eating afids.

Boy, I'm glad I am my own pet, or I could accidentally end up on the BBQ gill.

Lady bugs, good. Snaks, bad.
