Lucy & Charlie at Cats Are Us???

Here is Jeremy with a black dog and a yellow dog. Lucy and Charlie? Nope!

I used to take cat photos at Cats Are Us for their Petfinder Web site, but when I started working nights, I was unable to make it to the shelter before they close at noon. Teri, a volunteer with the Humane Society took over and took photos for quite awhile, but is having a baby (or probably had it already! and had to stop.

Then Brett and Jeremy offered to to do it, as well as a woman named Angie who works at the Blackhorse.Thank you all!

Well, Jeremy and Brett go on Saturdays to take all the new kitty pictures and post them on the Web site. And of course, they fall in love with many of the pets at the shelter. Currently Cats Are Us has a few dogs and really needs to find homes for them, because they are a CAT SHELTER!!!

So who does Jeremy and Brett find at the shelter? Dogs named Missy (black lab mix) and Sandy (lab/shepherd mix). And who do these dogs remind them of? Their own duo, Lucy and Charlie. So Jeremy and Brett feel so sad for these young dogs, because they want them to have the loving home Charlie and Lucy do!

Jeremy said, "They are both so sweet and really need to find good homes. I know that I might be a bit biased,as from a distance it looks like a picture of Lucy & Charley. The only real difference is that Sandy and Missy seem to know how to behave!!"

Now that's some high praise for these dogs! Many of us have met Lucy and Charlie and I think they are pretty well-behaved,so Missy and Sandy must be total angels!

I am so grateful to Brett, Jeremy and Angie for being willing to take time to go to the shelter when needed to take pictures. It just goes to show that there are MANY ways to help shelters--ways you might not have even thought of.

Cats Are Us can always use help with cat care at the shelter. Inge Irby, who runs Second Chance Happy Tails out of her home, also can use help. The Humane Society needs foster homes to give temporary care to pets awaiting adoption--like the woman who cared for little Hines before Jeremy and Brett adopted him. Or they need people to pick up donations or maybe drive a pet to a new home. The Humane Society is having a HUGE BIG DANCE HALLOWEEN party Oct 20 at the Riverview Inn and would like helpers to decorate or create print materials or pick up donated door prizes--there are tons of things to do to prepare for the big bash! So give them a call at 648-8042. Some of the things can even be done from your home. I will post more details closer to the date, but there will be DJs, including our very own Brett, entertainers, contests, tons of prizes, food, drink and dancing....all for a great cause!

They say a picture speaks a thousand words, and that's why adoptable pet pictures on Web sites are SO important. People looking to adopt are often hooked by that first look. That's how Brett first saw Hines the squirt dog and fell in love. And now, Hines is living in the lap of pet luxury in a home full of love. Maybe someone out there will do the same for Missy and/or Sandy!

Oh, poor Sandy came to the shelter with a buddy named Sam, and he got adopted, so Sandy is very, very sad. Hopefully, someone can make her happy again!

I wish I were there for that Bash too! I love to decorate and do fun stuff like that. Plus I have lots of music to add to the mix of tunes but I am sure that Brett will have plenty....

I bet those two babies will get adopted in no time at all. Look how sweet they look...

We didn't get a picture of BUBBA because he wouldn't sit still--but He needs a good farm home--somewhere he can run and chase rabbits and be completely happy . He may already be on the web site for Cats R Us--most probably--ANyone that knows someone with a home in the country where there is room for one more, or just for the one, give them a call and show them Bubba--
