Will The Boss Go for a Threesome?

I mentioned briefly in other topics that I had noticed a black and white cat around the house, but whenever I approached, it ran off into the woods. Thinking of my past strays Yogi and Tarzan, I felt sorry for the little guy and put out food.

One day, I noticed the cat lying under The Boss's truck and Tarzan starting holes though him. I went out and the cat came right over to me and let me pet him!

I found out the little guy is a little girl and that my neighbor let her daughter drop it off here, as it was found as a stray and the daughter couldn't keep it. Well, it being a female, she had to be spayed, which was done last week. Now she comes to the carport regularly, where I've set up a dog house and some cat beds.

But you know what's coming next, right? I'm worried about her, as I don't know where she goes at night. She's been around for a while I guess, so she has a place somewhere, but I'm used to my "strays" hanging around until I bring them in, like I did with Tarzan. This one can't come on the front porch because of the cat fence and The Boss insists NO MORE CATS IN THE CAT APARTMENT.

Will he soften? He likes the cat and pets it and even told me how friendly and sweet it was. I thought that was my opening and said, "We'll have to bring her in," but then he had a fit!

Tarzan doesn't like her and stares and meows when he sees her, his ears just a tad flattened. Catfish is fine with her. You see, Tarzan is always jealous of Catfish. He wants Catfish all to himself and his play toy and best buddy. But I think over time as Tarzan gets used to the new girl, he'll be fine. After all, he and Catfish had hissy fits when they met through the fence.

I was going to name her Dolly, because she has this sweet little baby-sounding meow, like a little bird. Then it was going to be Birdie, but then "Tweety Bird" popped into my head and that's what she is: Tweety, which also allows for the nickname birdie. I've also called her "Mimi" because of her meow sound.

For now she'll be outside and I'll worry constantly. I told The Boss he had to build an outdoor cat apartment for the carport corner, three levels, where she can get up high and also feel secure. I figure maybe that will seem like SUCH a big chore and he'll just say, "Just bring her in already!"

What do you think? Will he relent? Will Tweety make three? Anyone want to place a bet?

Tweety Bird is well on her way into Cat Bliss! Tarzan may not be glaring to run her off. He may be trying to figure out how he can get to this Black and White Beauty! She may end up his girlfriend by the end of this saga. My money is on Tweety Bird getting inside the house. She has already crossed the first hurdle, getting the Boss to think she is sweet. That is all it takes! Although I do like the idea of suggesting he build a condo, that trick may work. Tee heeā€¦
She is on her way....
Go Tweety, Go Tweety....

Start nagging Sandy. The Boss will relent just to get you to shut up!!! LOL

What is one more in the Cat House? You are already feeding her and paying vet bills, so what difference does it make if she's in the apartment?? He can't argue you can't afford it, cause you are already spending the money. I see no logical reason to say no.... The Boss is all about the logic, isn't he???

Yeah Sandy, I'll place a bet--if you don't leave that cat alone, and if i don't stop jabbing Jeremy about "fate" the dog, you and I will be hunting an apartment together after we are put out!!LOL

It might come to that B!

If you don't mind my 2 cents, and I don't care of you do, but about Fate. I read about him, and he's a cattle dog/border collie mix. Do you know what those dogs are like? They NEED NEED NEED lots of exercise and stimulation, so you might want to rethink that one! He might not like being inside all day while you are at work. Those dogs are big-time herders and if bored will go insane!

If you guys do get another dog, you need to get one of Inge's little lap-type dogs that are happy to lay around all day and don't need a lot of big-time exercise!

Sandy,
Sounds like you may win this one but like you I am so worried about your Tweeie Bird being outside. I'm most worried that she is out so soon after surgery! Aren't you afraid she will pull her stitches loose or get them caught on something? She could start bleeding. I know I am overly cautious about this but I can't help it. I have a huge dog carrier that I put my girls in after they were fixed. It's big enough to put a littler box ( small one ) and food in but they can't run around and all till they start healing well. We ahve so many steps that the vet said they shouldn't be going up and down them for a few days and with our girls the only wya to prevent that was to put them in the carrier. We used it for Cosette when she broke her leg as well. Of course they all thought they were in jail and hated it but they stayed safe.
Tweetie sure is a pretty girl, that's for sure. you know if you start saying things to The Boss like, I think Tweetie is supposed to be your cat. You can say she likes you best and etc. then I bet he'll soften more. Keep telling him how much Tweetie likes him. I'm with Stacey on what's one more cat in the apartment? Since you're alread footing the bills for Tweetie and she isn't living in the rest of the house it should be ok. I'll say a little prayer for you and Tweetie.

Sandy,
Tweety looks like she will eventually win her way into the Bosses heart. Be patient. It is starting to get cooler outside-maybe if he is the one to pet her and snuggle with her a bit on a chilly night he will relent? Or you could see some imaginary shadows in the woods that look like hungry lions or tigers or bears? Oh MY...I would try to get them to spend as much time togetehr as possible and maybe he will consent very soon. Maybe Pams idea of bringing it inside in a carrier to start with...oops...and accidentally leave the carrier door open.

Don't worry--Eliane told me there would be NO WAY Fate could co -exist with a cat. I wish Fate all the love in the world, but I can't give up my Pearl. Besides, she has a good Foster home with Jeanette, who was also Hines foster Mom, and I know she will make sure Fate gets a wonderful family right for her.

Me thinks...by next week Tweety has a new home and Tarzan and Catfish have a new sister. Sandy, you need to remind the Boss that it's cold and wet outside and that there is just NO WAY a little baby like that should be left outside. :)

Sandy, We all know that you call your hubby The Boss, But come on now... We really know who the boss in the house is. If you just bring the cat into the yard and let her and the boys get used to each other and let them make the decision for you. Once everyone gets along, He'll have to give in. Besides, he's half way there if he spends any time with her already. If it's ment to be, it will happen.

Pam, are you offering to give Tweety a new home? She is really, really sweet. Think about it. She's already spayed and vaccinated, etc., so it's all FREE to you!

Anyone else interested?

Her stitches are the disovable kind and I've been checking the incision and she's doing fine. I don't know how long she lived around here before I started feeding her, but she doesn't stay around at night like Tarzan did, though she is always near and spends time in the carport. The carport is sheltered and I have a small dog house available with a snuggly Teepee inside. But so far she hasn't gone in it--not cold enough yet.

I told the Boss about the cat house I want him to build on the carport. Maybe he will find it easier to let her in that building it, but it will be high with three levels and secure and I can run a heat pad to it in winter.

Tarazan does not like her around and stares her down and meows his head off, so I'm hoping over time he will get used to her, like he did with Catfish when he lived on the outside and that will make things easier. Catfish is bored by it all and would be fine with her.

I already have FIVE pets and didn't plan on more until one of them goes to Heaven.

I will just have to play it by ear. These things take time! I do worry about her being outside, but we live out here in the boonies and she has plenty of places for shelter. I must leave it to Fate and The Boss can't be rushed or it will backfire!

The best solution would be for one of my PET PEOPLE friends to offer a good home!

Thats the problem with the animal lovers in our Pet People Clan--most of us are full up and can't take on any more kids. But theres not a member of us that would not take every animal on earth if we thought we could handle it and take care of them all. It's up to us Pet folk to create new pet folk with education about dogs and cats, and being examples of how much they bring into our lives everyday. I know Sandy has helped people "turn to the Barkside"--hey that could be a blog topic. I like that "barkside" like Star Wars "darkside"--I'm a poet and didn't know it. WOULDN"T THAT MAKE A GREAT T-Shirt slogan for us? "Pet Blog of Clarksville--we turn people onto the barkside"

Oh B is so right Sandy! If only I could take her I would but I'm afraid I just can't. My three girls would be awful to her! When I baby sit my two grand kitties I have to keep them locked in a bedroom then lock my girls in another one to let the other two out. It is a big job keeping them apart but the one time one of ours and one of thiers saw each other it was a real fur ball for sure. The fur flew through the air and all you could see was this big ball rolling along the floor and ehar all this hissing and squaling and it was a huge cat fight! It scared me so bad but when they let go of each other they each ran a seperate way. I'm afraid they would hurt or kill each other. We've been going through this ever since our cats were babies. they won't tolerate another cat in the house. The thing is I may end up having to keep the grand kitties sometime so we'll have 5 cats then and I really can't handle 6. Our daughter really wants us to take the cats but untill we finish our room in the basement it isn't a conderation because of how we have to keep thiers and ours seperated. So you see my situation but if I could take Tweetie I would in a heartbeat, she's beautiful! It's already getting cold too so I'm worried about her being outside. I'll say a prayer The Boss will give in since you do ahve a place that would work. Maybe someone else on here can possibly help on this one.

You'll all have to work on The Boss when you see him next!

Cats know how to stay warm and out here there are lots of places for shelter. Besides I have a warm dog house with blanket and cat fur-lined Teepee right there by her food for her, but so far she hasn't gone in there. When I put that out for Tarzan before he came in, he always used the dog house. It's in a sheltered area. I also have a heat disk for when it gets cold.

Of course, I will lay out my cat condo plans for The Boss to build this weekend, so we'll see how THAT goes! LOL.
