Buster has the Christmas Spirit by Skeeter
I think this picture would make a great Christmas card. This is Buster a kitty that belongs to my parent’s neighbors but stops by for regular visits.
While home a few weeks ago my mom had me up in the attic getting out Christmas decorations. I put up the tree way before Thanksgiving which in a house with a kitten was a risk we took. So far Miss Patches has not knocked the thing over. That may be due to Pepper standing guard under the tree when it is lit. Some people frown upon Christmas decorations (hello Adrienne) being put up before Thanksgiving so we decided to wait on hanging the wreaths. Mom put them on the back porch until a more proper time to hang them. It did not take Buster long to find them. I think it was later that same day!
B is plotting a day for us Pet People (and anyone else who wishes to join in on the fun) to get together and spread some Christmas cheer for some needy animals. Check out the last few comments posted on the Topic, “Bring out the winter Woolies”, you know the picture of that beautiful Lucy in her pink sweater! Sandy will be posting more as the event is planned and time gets closer. The Saint and I will be in town that day (Dec 22) so we plan to partake in a day full of activities to help the furry babies…
Bring on those cute adorable fur baby pictures in their Christmas spirit and share with us…

I am plotting a BIG day for all Pet Kind, Skeeter. I hope no one will be upset for picking Cats R US , but I know first hand that they need some extra hands and help right now. I am going to go wrap for the Humane Society Saturday evening--after they see my skill, they may kick me out-LOL.
OUr day should be full from about 8 am to about 1 pm and then we can do lunch and break up to go get gussied up for our evening. We can do dinner and go do the Christmas light thing and then "retire for a sniffter of port" and our Andy Williams Christmas special.
ANY IDEAS, please, place them on the table!!! I am in no way trying to run the show! My brain is in backwards most of the time, and I know you guys all have ideas and input--SO LETS HEAR IT!!!
OH--for all my Clarksvillians--we need donations for the Cats R US yard Sale--did I mention that already? Now is your chance to get rid of old stuff so that Santa can bring you new stuff!! WHAT A GREAT IDEA---A CLUTTER CUTTER OF AN IDEA!!!
I was marking my DEC. calendar today--man it's gonna be a busy month. I have Lucy's birthday and our anniversary this month too--WOW !! 11 YEARS--Jeremy and I will have to sit down and count our scars--LOL
I only have a problem with christmas decorations because I think you should celebrate one holiday at a time. That includes mine and the Foremans birthday.
Actually, This year I put up christmas decorations this week, before our birthdays. I haven't put up a christmas tree yet b/c we buy a real tree and I want it to last while the in-laws are here.
Nice to know that Brett and Jeremy will come out for a day of poop duty, but stay in hiding while Daisy and I visit. Just teasing!! Hope Lucy has a happy birthday and you all have a happy anniversary. We have been married 11 years also and I don't know where the time has gone. I cried last night now that my 20's are officially over. I don't feel 30, but I am. I might cry again!
Our 13th wedding anniversary is the 22nd but the professor may be working so we may or may not celebrate that day. We normally do our grocery shopping for the coming week on Saturdays if he has that day off or Sunday since he always has Sundays off. It's hard to plan far in advance with the professor...
I was just picking at ya Adrienne. I too have a problem with decorating before one holiday is over but I have so much Christmas decorations that I have to start the decorating process early or I will not have time to sit back and enjoy them. It was nice to get them in place when the Saints parents arrived for Thanksgiving because I have been eating up the glitter and glow ever since!
The Saint and I have an anniversary in the month of Dec also! We were married 18 years ago this Dec. 16 but we have been together a total of 20 years… Wow, that is a long time to go without killing each other! LOL…. We have grown so much from each others input. Plus our love for animals, nature and all the other things we have in common are wonderful assets for our strong bond of marriage! The main secret, never go to bed angry!
The Saint also has a birthday Dec 8. Wow, steak twice in the same month! YUM…He asked me a few days ago if he was turning 42! I had to laugh and say dream on boy, we are the same age and that puts you at 44 but I like the way he was thinking! Adrienne, wait until you hit 40 and the eyes start messing with you! Then you will feel the age thing… LOL
B, I don’t see where anyone would be upset with you picking Cats R’us for us to help. We love all animals and if helping meant scooping cow poop at a farm, I would be there! Come on Pet People, give B some input so we can have a day full of Christmas spirit for the furry ones….
First of all, I will be NOWHERE at 8 a.m. Remember people, I work night shift and am on different sleep/wake schedule than most. I don't go to bed until around 2:30 a.m. and it takes me 30 min to get to town. But I will be there as soon as I can and will bring a change of clothes so I don't have to drive all the way back here before later activities. That means I will be tagging along with someone who can drag me to their house and let me clean up!
My birtday is Dec. 13 so our party will cover all of our Nov./Dec. occasions. My dad's birthday was Dec 23; he died in 1989. Daisy is a New Year's Day baby, but there is nothing new about her any more. LOL.
Brett, I don't know if you got my e-mails, but I will need to know ASAP about the Cats Are Us Yard Sale. The exact dates, the exact address, the times, where people can drop off donations, etc. so I can sumbit it all so it gets in the paper. I'll also post a topic about it and ask Amy to do an Actionline.
I was thinking about nighttime activities on Dec. 22. I know both B and Shannon offered their humble abodes for our gathering. Instead of going out to dinner, how about we all just bring a dish and have a pot luck or something? We bring our own drinks and a dish or two?
I would invite you all here, but I am not putting up any decorations at all and it's a farther drive. I wanted to have a deck party in Sept, but our deck and rail is not finished yet and the whole place is a mess. But I will be having something come Spring! A Pet People Spring Fling!
My only times that are already booked right now are the 7th, the 16th and the 23rd. All else are open to getting together so hope it's a time when we can be there. I would volunteer to have everyone here again but I will be cooking and cleaning a lot on the 22 because we are having our family Christmas dinner on the 23rd this year but next time we can do it here.
Cats Are Us is our main top priority as far as the animal charities go because we are friends with Suzanne and Ghetta plus all three of our babies are Cats Are Us girls. They need help desperatly too so please everyone doo all you can with donations for the yard sale and any money you can spare as well. I alked to Suzanne yesterday and she said we can bring things for the sale between two and three o'clock next week. The sale is in that place where Carol's Flea Market used to be on Wilma Rudolph Blvd next to the Toyoto car dealer. We're going to start getting things over there soon as we can. We're working on decorating the house right now. The sale is either the 13, 14 and 15 or the 14, 15, and 16. Which is it Brett? I can't remember.
Hi Pet People,
Just checking in to see what is going on and it looks like Skeeter posted a picture of my kitty, Orkin. It is an adorable picture and would be great on a Christmas card.
Guess what Skeeter? Mr. Fix-it and I just celebrated our 14th anniversary and his birthday is Friday, Dec 7th-one day before the Saints. Isn't that funny. Looks like a lot of pet people have anniversary in the winter.
Yes Tina Buster does look like Orkin!
Wow another of our similarities with those dates!
We chose Dec because we lived in Texas at the time. My family was all in Clarksville and the Saints 3 family members lived in VA. We figured it would be easiest if we got his 3 family members and ourselves to TN then to try to get my large gang anywhere. We picked Dec due to the fact that was the best time of year to get everyone together and the house would be decorated for Christmas thus less money to spend on floral and the such! Have I ever mentioned that we are Cheapskates? ha ha... We were married in my parent’s living room with 3 nephews and 2 nieces involved. They were ages 5-12 and it was the cutest thing ever! We should bring the video to share sometime. Anyone else have their wedding on video??? We could have a Pet People wedding party....
The Boss and I went for a fishing license here and ended up getting a marriage license.
We had the choice of the courthouse or the Queen of Clarksville riverboat, so we picked the boat. We called up his Mom and told her we were getting married at 3:30 THAT day. She came with Glen's son who was 10 at the time.
So, it was a quickie. We had planned on getting married in PA, but I think at the time you needed blood tests or something. So when we asked as we got our fishing license, we decided to just go for it then and there!
So, I have been married twice and both times, no one from my family attended!
So, no video. But I do have home movies on tape of Daisy and I growing up! LOL
My wedding "video" is over 40 years old and does not involve animals. However the hair piece on top of my head may give you all a laugh, especially after taking a peek at the doggy wigs web site.

The Foreman and I went to the courthouse also. He came home from work and asked if i wnated to get married right then. So I said sure. We hopped in the car and that was that. He dad went with us, but that was it. So no wedding video for us either. We said that if we made it 10 years we would have a real wedding. We tried to plan it, But spent the money to move to VA instead. Maybe at our 20 year. LOL!
The Foreman's birthday is Dec. 10. I guess since he finally got me diamonds, I'll have to do something nice for him.
Hey everyone, Sounds like we all have unique experiences with our weddings. Skeeter, Mr. Fix-it got married in November, the day after Thanksgiving because we too thought it would be easier to get everyone together this way. We also just happened to be in the U.S. at this time for a legal matter. We do have a video. It was so romantic, even though it was my third wedding, it was his first so he made it special.
Sandy, it was great your spouse's mother could come right away. Going to get a fishing license and winding up with a marriage license! Look out you fishermen!
Ginger, what kind of hairpiece did you wear?! My mother used to wear some funny wigs back in the 60s so I can only guess (you all don't tell her I said this!)
Adrienne, forget about the 20 year marriage, just take the money you would spend on a wedding and take a long Caribbean Cruise. That is what marriage is all about!
Take care pet people. Stay safe in this blustery weather!
Hmmm.. no exciting wedding on our part. We celebrated 13 years in Sept. We did time our wedding specifically so we could attend the Nascar race at Darlington for our honeymoon. Kin you say redneck??? haha...no scrimping for us. We splurged on race tickets and spent the night at the super 8...aahhh the romance. Makes me want to get all teary eyed just remembering it.
Well, splurged is definitely the word for NASCAR tickets because they are expensive. Sounds like fun!
O'Malley, too funny... Expensive tickets then stayed at the Super 8 is true Redneck fashion! Gee, the Saint and I are right there with ya....LOL
I did have the date wrong on the yard sale folks--it is the 14, 15 and 16th in the old flea market building on the hill behind the car lot (it think it's toyota)--Jeremy was the one taking down all the particulars, so I will have him email you SANDY. The building is a disaster as it was used for a hounted house, but they can't find the main switch for the power. Ghetta was hoping that the motor cycle club would help them find out whats wrong with the power, as they were the last to have used the building. I hate being on the edge of these things, but working all week and being in Nashville too makes it hard to keep in touch and keep up on everything.
So,Dragon is making friends with Tweetie?
You know, I just recently figured out where Hines is. That lucky dog!
Did anybody notice that one of the yard sale days is the same as the PetSmart Photos w/Santa Dragon?Tina, my 1967 hair piece added a fashionable about 3 to 4 inches to the top of my head, held on with a tiny comb and loads of bobby pins. It was big curls. No dog would ever put up with that!
I'm eatting pancakes on Saturday at Applebee's on Wilma Rudolph Blvd. The Girl Scouts are doing a fundraiser for the Humane Society.
Yeah--we caught that date---so Jeremy will go one place and I will go to the other. Team work-right? Stacey--would you be willing or able to help Jeremy out with the pictures while your at Pet Smart, or were you just going to drop off the Dragon?
Drop off the Dragon??? Are you insane, man?? You have arranged for little underage girly girl elves, so I can't leave the Dragon unsupervised!!! Lord only knows what sort of ruckus might ensue if I'm not there to ensure peace and good will. LOL
Yes, I will be the good little elf and help Chief Elf Jeremy with pictures and/or dog wrangling, or whatever the case may be.
Ginger, I sure hope we get to see Doris there. I'll bet she could pull Santa Dragon's sleigh!!
well, I sure missed this entry by not getting on here sooner. Seems like most of us on here have gotten married without a lot of hoopla. Fly Boy and I eloped 34 years ago on Aug 4th right before he started his senior year of high school!!!!!!!!!!!! He teases me about how if it were these days I'd be in jail like that teacher here in TN that dated all her young students. I'm not that much older than him but I guess he's right,ha. Anyway we kept our marrige a secret for 5 months. he would come to get me and we went on dates every night. Our plans were to have a big wedding on our first aniversary then tell everyone at the recption that it was actually our one year aniversary. But God had other plans and in Dec. I found out I was pregnant so we had to tell all but--- we had our marrige certificate for proof that we didn't get married because of that,ha. Anyway Fly Boy prmised me we'd have a renewal of our vows on our 10th aniversary so family could be there then when that came he said on our 25th then on our 34th he said we probably won't do it at all. And I am still waiting for our honeymoon!!!!! So sadly we don't even have a photo of our wedding. The Army hasn't allowed us a lot of time together even during his retirement. Which by the way people he will start back to active duty once again on Friday. he is sooo excited!
Stacey, yep, Doris probably could pull a little sleigh. But, I don't think she would enjoy it near as much as the newly planted Cedar tree she pulled up last month.
Sandy, if you ever decide to sketch again, Doris and Franky will be available.
Meanwhile, I encourage you to do that mural. It can be great therapy, too.
Ginger, I must have missed something somewhere... What kind of dog do you have???
Skeeter, I think we talked about Doris on the other post about Dragon being Santa for Cats-R-Us. Doris is a GREAT DANE! And, I've met Doris, and she could definately pull a sleigh. Sweet as can be though. BUT, BIG GIRL!
Oh gosh, the heck with pulling a sleigh! I would love to see Doris in the Dragons lap!
That was actually how it came up! Ginger asked if Santa Dragon would like a Great Dane in his lap, and Sandy said something about his preferring a DAME...... LOL
Great Dame! Yep, thats our Dragon!
Oh Lord--2 teenage elves, one rowdy Santa Dragon, and a great dane...in a pear tree. I may need someone to bring valium for this event.-LOL
IN all seriousness, I AM SO GRATEFULK to brother Dragon for donating his time and to Momma Elf Stacey for volunteering to help Elf Jeremy with the pictures. My two little elves, one is Katlyn (and I have no idea if I spelled it right)who is my sweet little next door neighbor, who asked a friend from her dance troop to help also. Santa (the real one) is going to be extra busy this year rewarding all the good boys and girls who help the fur babies. Let's hope we get a great turn out and make alot of cat nip for the gals at Cats R US.
