Groundhogs Day... by Skeeter

From the Wikipedia Encyclopedia:
Groundhog Day or Groundhog's Day is a holiday celebrated in United States and Canada on February 2. In weather lore, if a groundhog, also known as a woodchuck, marmot or ground squirrel, emerges from its burrow on this day and fails to see its shadow because the weather is cloudy, winter will soon end. If the groundhog sees its shadow, it will return into its burrow, and the winter will continue for 6 more weeks.*Photo is from the internet.

I just looked up the results on the internet. (I swear you can find anything out there! LOL)

DRUM ROLL please..........

Punxsutawney Phil from PA. SAW his shadow today.
According to his prediction, we are in for 6 more weeks of winter.

General Beauregard Lee from Lilburn, GA did NOT see his shadow today.
According to his prediction, Spring is just around the corner.

Since I live in Georgia, I am going with Beaus prediction!

Do any of you have a tradation for this Strange day???

Happy Groundhog Day!

Well, since I am from Pennsylvania, I'm very familiar with Punxsutawney Phil! And my Mom always reminds me that Feb 2 was her mother's birthday.

I will have to ask Mom about any traditions; if anyone would know it's her!

I like when cities come up with such unique events to attract crowds, media and tourists! Maybe Clarksville can come up with something just as fun!
