Readers: Send Me Your Pet Photos

For some unexplicable reason that no mortal can beging to fathom, the cat formerly know as Tweey, now dubbed Shadow by Dragon and the Lady Gunievere, has developed a total, I'm-in-love, out-of-control obsession with the gruff, fire-breathing Dragon! In fact, Shadow is addicted to him! Or maybe he's just carrying a dead fish around in his pocket?

According to Lady Guinevere, Shadow is the right name, as she follows Dragon wherever he goes. When he takes a shower to wash off his scaliness, Shadow lies patiently on the bath mat outside of the shower. It now takes Dragon twice as long to get dressed in the morning, as Shadow will not leave him alone, always grabbing his legs or arms with her paws and butting her head into his chest asking for pets.

Me thinks the Shadow has found the castle of her dreams. I think it's a good thing she is a mere female cat and not a mere female, or Guinevere would be out on her ear in the snow living with Punkin and Casper in the Cat House.

Why do you think a dog or cat picks out a favorite person? Zoe picked out The Boss and she is definately Daddy's Girl. She must suffer from the same disease as Shadow.

I love the way Shadow is sleeping so protectively with Dragon. There are two types of pet owners: those who do not allow dogs, say, on any funiture and others, who let them anywhere they want to go (that would be most of us). But don't dog packs sleep together in the wild? Or does the alpha leader banish some lower members to outside the inner circle?

We've seen so many great pet photos over the months. If anyone has some they'd like to share with the Pet People masses, please e-mail them to me at: sandybritt@theleafchronicle.com and include a description of the pets and people and tell us all about them and I'll post them here as soon as possible.

a dog picks out the head honcho in the household. i think a cat just picks out one who gives it the most attention.

I can't believe I am using the word "cute" about our Dragon. There is no doubt tho! Seeing him with a cat on his head is very, very cute!
Lady G and I are fortunate to be married to men who our furr kids also love.

AAAWWWW that is just the sweetest thing to see with Shadow lying up by Dragon's head like that! They are smitten with each other it's clear.
I do think animals pick certain people sometimes but not always.
Our daughter and son-in-law ( Dr. B )got thier cats when they were babies and they for sure picked thier favorites right away. Callie decided my daughter was her person and Gracie was totally smitten with our son-in-law. She acts like he is the most wonderful thing in the universe and I'm not kidding! I wish you could see the way she acts with him. When he holds her she will lay back and stare into his eyes and kissses him and rubs all over him. When he kisses her she almost acts like she is sighing, I'm serious. I have never seen a cat act like she does with him. It is soooo funny! It doesn't matter when it is, any time he wants to give her attention it is just fine and she will demand his attention at times. I think I have some old video of a bit of how she acts somewhere, will have to look for it to show at the next Pet People gathering. From what I see with Shadow and Dragon it seems to be a similar relationship to Dr. B and his Gracie.

Forgot to mention how sweet and angelic my brother looks when he is asleep. You'd never know how much fire he can breathe would you? You see? He isn't all fire.

Dogs pick out the head honcho? Then all the dogs would pick out ME, but Zoe has picked The Boss! Maybe because she's the only girl dog, she picked the man of the house, while Peanut and Scooter and males and picked the Queen Bee!

Suzanne at Cats Are Us says she believes cats pick out there potential adopters. Like me and Catfish. After Yogi died and I went there to approach them about getting them on Petfinder, I planned to check out the cats and eventually adopt one. It was the first time I ever was there and as I walked to all the different rooms and took pictures, there was Catfish. I petted him and he rolled on his side and was just so sweet.

Only later after I adopted did I find out he was in the room with that cats thought not to be ready for adoption! When I asked them when he became so friendly after his rescue ordeal, they said, "YOU."

Yes, he hid for three weeks when he first got here and is still a more reserved, skittish cat, it was fate. YES Dragon, fate.

It's funny. I thought I'd want a cat that looked like Yogi (long-haired gray)and a lot of people look for that when a pet dies, but there was just something about Catfish. Yet, he wasn't really up for adoption because of his skittishness.

OH God--I guess either Jeremy or I is supposed to have every cat in CATS R US at home then!
I wish some of you could spare the time to just drop by and love on the babies out there. Its a small space and its usually cramped with people on Saturday either helping or looking for a kitty. But they all love so easy -except for the wild cat room- LOL.
I am trying to think up a good fund raiser we can do as Pet People when the weather warms up. WOuld anyone be willing to get a couple of booths at the flea market and sell of excess yard sale stuff? Maybe we could throw together and rent a roach coach and seel hotdogs at an event or something. Somebody brain storm with me!!!!!

B, my only problem with renting a booth at the Flea Market is just that, having to put money out to rent the booth. That is just money taht could be donated to Cats Are Us in the first place. We need to do something that doesn't have a charge so as not to take a penny away from helping the cats. I'm sure we can come up with something if we all brainstorm. You know we are good at that when we get started. Well got to get, got a Hail and Farewell to go to tonight.

P.S. Don't you have to have a permit to sell any kind of food in public? I think it's because of the safety factor. And again if you rent a coach thingy it's not money going straight to the cats. We'll come up with something for those precious kitties B.

Oh my Gosh! I want to know if our Fire Breathing Dragon approved this picture for Posting? I thought he put out a challenge for the wenches to catch him in his glasses. I did the deed and make sure I have pictures of the ole boy with glasses on at each event I attend! I have been a good wench and never posted them. Okay, I may keep him on my good side by harboring these pictures to myself. LOL I just wonder why it is okay to post a picture of Dragon with glasses on. Maybe, because glasses are not as painful as pink flower blankets, or funny looking hats... Or maybe that Shadow is just plain adorable snuggling up to Daddy’s blonde fluff and daddy wants to show off his favorite wench of all…. Yep, that is one cute kitty for sure. Shadow and Dragon make two adorable snuggle bunnies!

Now just where does dear Guinevere fit in this picture? Oh, yes, she was busy at the foot of the bed rubbing Dragons feet, right Dragon…..

The mighty King of the Castle, Dragon, gave his permission.

Just goes to show the love of a good cat woman can do wonders for even the rough and gruff.

And I don't know what the problem is with glasses. I like those glasses and he looks good in them. I wore glasses since 2nd grade and only wore contacts in my 20s and early 30s before giving them up. Glasses hide dark circles and wrinkles much better!

The last time Jeremy and I did the flea market, it was $8 for a wooden booth/table and $5 for a grassy spot. I was referring to the BIG flea market out on Dover Road split in the field. They still have it don't they?

i think Dragon is a big SCAREDY cat. Notice he hasn't made a peep about this topic? I can't believe he doesn't have anything to say. He'll probably just say he was too busy, or working, or sick or whatever. Me thinks maybe he is really a chicken under those scales and fire! LOL.

I think he's still in shock that in a moment of weakness he actually agreed to let you post the picture!!! Let's face it, Dragon's don't exactly like to be "cute", now do they?

Sandy, Sandy, Sandy, Sandy……no chicken here. No scaredy cat to be found. Truth is, I haven’t been on the blog lately because I have been trying to ignore my picture. I knew it was there, but I don’t like to look at my picture. Besides, I have been taking advantage of this warmer weather to get some much needed vehicle maintenance done. Jiffy Lube ain’t got nothing on me. And, I’ve been trying to practice my golf swing, and I have determined that I am a washed up golfer. The Senior Tour doesn’t have to worry after all (I was going to lie about my age to get in).

Now Miss Stacey, there is no weakness in this Dragon, except perhaps for the young girly girls that salivate and lust after me and my babe mobile. And—what’s this about glasses!?!?!? Boy, I guess next time wifey pooh shows me something, I better put the damn things on so I’ll know what I am approving. I didn’t realize I had on my glasses. I think this was a conspiracy of the mere females to capture me in my vulnerable state.

But, I’m glad that all my adoring wenches can see my true rugged, scaly self and continue to adore me. And in gratitude, I think I will take you all out on the town to say thanks, and Sandy’s buying! Don’t worry, she has the Boss’s credit card and he never looks at the statement. What is the name of that really expensive place???
