Working for it

Since starting school all I seem to do is work and study, study and work. I try to make time for everyone, but it’s hard. So I have come up with other ways to occupy the dog’s time. This is Hunter’s newest toy. A treat ball, he has to work for the treats I put inside, usually a hand full of dog food or Charlie Bears. It has quickly become his favorite toy. I don’t let him have it unless it has treats in it and I can watch him, he’d chew it up. He also tends to be a little aggressive with it as you’ll see. I bought a small one for Oscar also; he knows how to roll it, but rarely gets the treats. He hasn't figured out the he has to check and see what has come out of the ball. Mattie however has figured out if she walks behind him she can get the dispensed treats. I can’t say I blame her, I’d like for someone to do all the work for me while I get the reward. Anyone want to volunteer to attend my classes, do my homework and take my tests AND put in a 40+ work week? I'm not complaining, I love what I'm doing, I just didn't plan ahead very well.

Tomorrow is a day at the spa; nails, hair, massage. No dogs, No husband just ME. The Foreman decieded to spoil me and bought me a 4 visit package to a day spa. I can't wait! So the question is, If you could have a day to pamper your self and money was no object, what would or wouldn't you do?

P.S. Ignore the sound of the Foreman who forgets the camera has sound.

You have beautiful babies Adrienne!!!! HUnter is so smart! We have the Kongs that you put treats in. My babies are all too good at getting the treats out in record time--it's like Houdini.

Try larger treats B then see how the Houdini’s are surprised! LOL...

I think this is a great idea to occupy a young pup! I assume they make them for cats too..?... I may have to try these on Sheba. With her clown antics, I am sure it would be fun to watch her…. Maybe some nip inside for Cheetah during our evening TV time so she will stop bugging us to give butt rubs every 5 minutes….

I love it! I love the way the other dogs walk by nonchalantly and how Hunter looks at them to make sure they won't move in.

Maybe Shannon should try this for Rocky, a Kong rubber variety.

Peanut would LOVE LOVE LOVE this. His two favorite things combined: balls and food. But I don't know how it would go over with Scooter around. He has to be in on everything and in charge of all dog activities. I should get one for Peanut when Scooter's outside.

I forgot to answer Adrienne's question. I would get a massage. I used to go regularly, but can't seem to find the time these days. Then I'd like to get together with friends and have a nice long lunch. I am not so much into hair and nails and facials, so just the massage. Of course, if there was a tropical island close by I'd like nothing more than to sit on a loung in the shade of a palm tree with a good book and a stiff drink.

Jen,I'd forego all the other treatments and just have hour lond refleology, it relaxes me better than a full body massage any day. I have a gift certificate to the Oasis now that my daughter gave me for my birthday, been saving it till needed most. Fly Boy left last night to go to "The Sand Box" so am needing it soon!
Oh yea, good luck with school and don't work too hard. If you learn to give yourself a little break from studying once in a while it helps keep your mind clear and you can actually study better. I learned that in nursing school after I worked way too much. It was so much easier after I learned when to study and when to quit.

Skeeter, they do make those treat balls for cats too. We've had several of them and as much as my girls love treats they ignor the balls after a minute. They could care less about them.Maybe I need to try a different treat but I have put thier favorites in and still no big deal to them. Shows how all pets are different.

What cuties Adrienne!

I love the video. Yes, I think I will try a kong for my Rocky. I think I have seen those at Petsmart. Maybe it will tire him out a bit?

I would go for a massage. I could use one right now . I would also do the nails. Are they feeding you? I have always wanted to do the whole day thing where you get the works and lunch.

Pam, I am sorry FlyBoy left. He must be taking my hubbys place as I am expecting mine home very soon. This was a long one for us. We are tying to time it so my hubby will be here with the young kids so I can fly out to AZ when our oldest daughter has her baby. I am going to be a GRANNY very soon ya'll! Kids, fur babies, grandbabies....I am getting old

Congratulations Shannon!!!!! You have got to be so excited about the baby! Being a Grammy is so great I can't even describe it! It's just the bestest thing!
Yea, Fly Boy said the guys they replaced are getting ready to come back. Glad You Should is coming home soon! Ya'all enjoy him being home. This ain't a fun thing but thank god for our guys and all the others willing to do what they have to do to protect us all. I'm so proud of all of them! I get a bit angry at the people wh don;t understand about the high spending on the war. I want our guys to have the best weapons and all they need over there and that takes money. Maybe if those who are complaining about that so much had a family member over there fighting they wouldn't be so quick to say anything about the cost. Anyway my point is--I wnat them to have the very best to work with! Sorry I'll get off my soap box now,ha.

Oh and one more thing Shannon, having grand kids will help to keep you young so don't even think it makes you old,ha.

Adrienne, I couldn't get the video to work, it kept asking me to open a new google account to open it, weird huh? I'll try it one more time and see if it will work for me.

Grandbabies are not furry Shannon but you can still snuggle with them! And the best part, when you get tired of them, you can send them back unlike your kids! Just joking of course as you would never want to send your kids back. I have met them and they are adorable!

Pam,
I love you on a soap box! Well said! yes, you should arrived home this morning around 3am. My daughter called today to say she is being taken by ambulance from Huachuca to Tucson due to heart problems she has been having during her pregnancy that are not improving. I am in limbo right now as far as When I am leaving to be with her. Probably first thing in the morning. They have sent a red cross message to try to get her hubby home from deployed but just don't know yet. She is worried to death about her doggie Petie who is at home. They would not allow her to go back home at all so I am trying to get there asap. She still has about 5 weeks to go but I have a feeling they are going to take the baby and I hope I can get there in time. I am TERRIFIED of flying. Please friends pray my daughter and the baby will get thru this ok and that I won't lose my mind on the plane.

YOU CAN DO IT,O'Malley! When I have to fly I take 1/2 Valium for the trip there and the other half for the trip home. (cheap drunk that I am) That keeps me from interviewing the Pilots.

hey Ya'll,

I am still here-things are going better. Thanks so much for the prayers pam. They have my daughters heart rate stabilized and her hubby is on the way home. She also found someone to let her Petie out until her husband gets home. She is now at a hospital that is able to deal with her heart issues and we are all feeling better. They are not going to take the baby just yet-as long as they can keep her heart in line. So per her wishes I am staying put until they get ready to take the baby. Yay- I can prolong the fear. Thanks Ginger. I will have to try that. That is too funny- interviewing the pilots-love it!

Great news o'malley! As I wrote on your email, it will all be just fine. I know you are so relieved and feeling better now but I'm still here if you need me, just pick up the phone.
Ginger, only 1/2 valium to fly? You are a cheap drunk,ha. I can't even feel a half of one. Well that is if it's a 5 mg. I actually did ok on my last fllight but the pain I go trough is misserable. I have yawned, chewed gum, blown my nose and nothing works to stop the pain in my ers and down my neck! Iwould try a antihistimine next time but I hate that too cause they are not only drying but give me palpitations. I'd rather have the pain than palpitations! Maybe I should take two or three valiums and try to sleep,ha.

Hang in there Omalley, it will all work out.... The Saint tells me that worrying will not change the outcome. Only makes me a nervious wreck! This phrase has really calmed me a lot so try to remember that as you pop the valium!
